24 years ago I worked in Irish Life in Abbey Street, processing renewals for group schemes and producing Benefit Statements and Annual Report. Back then the adviser proposition was to meet scheme members once a year with the Benefit Statement and give them and update on their pension…..what has changed?
Sure, the insurers now have online portals, but taking on a new scheme and handling the members over to another company’s brand isn’t a great strategy for long term client engagement. Advisers need to ensure that their clients are looking at their brand to maximise engagement and long term loyalty.
And members want more. The average person in Ireland has 8 jobs in their lifetime and keeping a track of old pensions can be complex and confusing, often resulting in scheme members being disengaged with both their pension and their adviser.
